Here is a summary of the basics of the house:

HEAT: The thermostat is located across from the refrigerator in the kitchen. Heat is forced hot air and is very efficient. Please set both thermostats (oil and gas stove) at 50 when you leave.

GAS STOVE: The gas stove is turned on with a thermostat on the wall. Please use this more for atmosphere than for heating, and enjoy.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER: A class A/B/C multipurpose fire extinguisher is located under the kitchen sink. A smoke alarm is located in the kitchen.

WATER: The water comes from an Artesian well located in the back yard. It is pure and you need not bring your own drinking water. The water in the lake is drinkable and many of the camps use this as their only source of water.

FISHING: For both summer and ice fishing, the state game wardens do check regularly for fishing licenses. You can get a fishing license, as well as any fishing supplies, at the Woodbury General Store.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT: Please feel free to use the sports equipment in the garage. Fishing poles, volleyball, badminton, tubes, ski bob, raft, and life preservers. At night it is wise to bring all sports equipment up on the back deck. The ski bob and raft should not be left on the dock along with any life preservers and any item that could be blown into the water and be carried away. We have had to go get rafts and tubes that have blown away.

FIRST AID KIT: Medicine cabinets are well stocked. In addition, we have a red box marked "First Aid" which we keep in the boat during the summer and under the bathroom sink in the winter.

STORES: Woodbury General Store is located on Route 14 about 12 minutes away and has basically everything. The grocery (Grand Union), hardware (Aubuchons), diner, pizza, pharmacy (Brooks), nice restaurant (Elliots), and "watering holes" are all located in Hardwick Route 14 north about 25 minutes away.

SLEEPING: Besides the three bedrooms upstairs, the living room couch becomes a queen-size sleeper and the sun porch futon also becomes a queen-size sleeper.

BEDDING & TOWELS: You are welcome to use the towels and sheets that you find in the bathrooms and closets -- please make sure you wash them before leaving.

WASHER & DRYER: Located in the garage. Please use as needed. Soap can be found on the shelf above the washer.

VACUUM: The hose and attachments are located next to the washer in the garage. The house has central VAC so just plug into an outlet and go to it.

TOOLS: Basic tools can be found in the closet next to the downstairs bathroom.

THE BASIC RULE: If things break, notify us and we will send someone to fix it if it is an emergency. If we can't be reached,
If not due to normal wear and tear, you should break something -- such as fishing pole/sports equipment -- just fix or replace it and leave a note in the notes section.
